Who can attend the classes?
Anyone with an interest in improv. Our classes are mixed skill level, so they’re beginner-friendly, but advanced performers also use the class to sharpen their skills. Students, housewives, professionals, arts, actors, painters, accountants, libraryians, cooks and many more...
Do I have to be funny in improv? Will I learn how to do improv comedy?
No, there is no pressure to be funny. One of the interesting things about improv is that many of the funny or dramatic moments you see are in fact a by-product of good improv acting.
I’ve signed up for the Monday class – can I switch to the Tuesday class? Or can I use my Tuesday ticket to attend the Monday class?
No, the tickets are not transferable. You can’t use the Improv Dojo I ticket for the Improv Dojo II. You an use the tickets for classes on a different day(or date) if you have a suddend schedule conflict.
Do I have to go to more classes after my first one?
No. There’s no obligation to take more classes or courses with us. Come as little or often as you like.
How do I get my free show tickets?
Everybody who attends a class gets on the comp list for our weekly improv theater shows. Just ask your teacher to put your name down at the end of the class. Note: free tickets available for Oakland improv shows, not special shows or the Play Festival.
I didn’t enjoy the class. Can I get my money back?
Yes. If you didn’t like the San Francisco improv class, email us afterwards and we’ll give you a full refund, no questions asked. You have two weeks after purchase to ask for a refund.
Where are the classes held?
At Pan Theater, 2135 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94612. Pan is one block from the 19th Street BART between 21st and 22nd Street at 2135 Broadway. Check website (Eventbrite for current San Francisco Location)
I’m going to miss my class. Can I use my ticket at another date?
Yes, you can transfer your class ticket to a future session if you miss a class. You can also give your ticket to a friend or family member if you can't take the class. Email us with your class ticket info and we'll hold your credit for up to one year.
